The Hickory Record reported on August 5, 2013 that a truck overturned in the morning while the driver of a truck was proceeding north on US Highway 127 near Mountain Grove Church Road in North Carolina. Fortunately, the driver was not hurt and no other vehicles were involved. The accident happened around 7:45 in the morning. The truck veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole and then overturned on US 127. A witness who was awakened by the crash remarked how lucky the driver was. In addition to the pole damage, there was damage to a tree. Another witness said the power lines and a nearby building shook pretty hard.
There are several possible explanations as to why this truck accident occurred. One logical explanation is the driver was speeding. There are few reasons drivers lose control when no other vehicles are involved. A second reason may have been that driver was tired. Truck drivers run long hours and some don’t make sure they get off the road when needed. A third reason could be distraction such as talking on the cell-phone or playing with the radio.
