Huntersville motorcycle accident claims life of elderly man

A vehicular accident on Wednesday, September 4 caused the death of an elderly man on Statesville Road in Huntersville, Virginia. At around 12:13 pm on Wednesday, the Huntersville Fire Department called in an accident between a motorcycle and a Honda sport utility vehicle at Statesville Road of US Route 21 and Northdowns Lane, located south of North Carolina Highway 73.

North Meck emergency rescuers and Huntersville Station 1 firemen responded to the scene of the accident and came to help the motorcyclist, identified as 59-year-old Mooresville resident Frank Andrew Hatfield, who incurred life-threatening injuries.

Hatfield later died at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The 32-year-old driver of the SUV from Huntersville was slightly wounded and received medical attention near the accident site.
