Joe Miller Negotiates Settlement for Cable Installer After Winning Hearing
December, 2012 – Norfolk, VA – our client was working on the second story of a customer’s house as a cable installer. His ladder slipped, causing him to fall to the ground, severely injuring his leg, hip and back. His medical treatment included surgeries to the left leg and knee. The company he had worked for denied his worker’s comp claim based on the notion that he was an independent contractor. We fought for our client at a hearing, and successfully argued that our client was, in fact, an employee of the Defendant, and not an independent contractor. We won at the hearing, and the Defendants appealed the Commissioner’s decision against them, but before the appeal was taken up, we negotiated a substantial full and final settlement for our client.
