We are really proud of the team we have assembled to help deliver Strong Justice to you.
Joe has been practicing injury law for over 25 years in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. He is admitted to practice law in both Virginia and North Carolina. He has also successfully represented injured victims on a ‘pro hac vice’ basis in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, and Florida. Joe earned his B.A. at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, in 1984. He is a graduate of the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at William & Mary, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1987. Joe was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., but he has spent most of his life in the Hampton Roads area, having grown up in the Churchland area of Portsmouth and the Western Branch area of Chesapeake. He graduated from Western Branch High School in 1980. He currently resides in Norfolk, VA with his wife, two daughters and their German Shepard, ‘Boom-Boom.’ Outside of law practice, Joe enjoys engaging in religious studies, playing guitar, writing and recording music in his music studio, mountain biking, snow skiing, and just spending time with his family at home. Joe says his favorite part of practicing law is, “when it is crystal clear that the client you are helping is in dire need of your services. You realize that if the two of you had not been brought together, this person would likely be making choices that would have severe adverse consequences for him or her. It feels really good when you can present an injured client with advice and a plan of action that puts him or her on the right path to a successful future, a new start, and financial security. Just knowing that the client is sleeping better at night—with fewer clouds of worry and doubt that were there before you came along— that helps me sleep better as well.”
Ian was admitted and licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia as of December 2018. As a newly minted attorney, he is currently training under Joe Miller, here at Joe Miller Law in the practice of workers’ compensation
and personal injury
law. Using his background in marketing and 7+ legal and judicial internships, Ian is currently the firm’s Intake Specialist, helping the firm determine which of the numerous people who contact us
each day are the best fit to become part of our clientele and Strong Justice SM family. Ian received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Government and History from Franklin & Marshall College, Class of 2014, and his Juris Doctor (JD) from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William & Mary, Class of 2017, which is also Mr. Miller’s alma mater. Ian grew up in suburban New Jersey, but moved to Virginia to attend law school. He and his wife, Naomi, have fallen in love with the Hampton Roads region and are building a permanent home here. They live in Norfolk. Outside of work, Ian enjoys religious studies, politics, community events, reading, white-water rafting, and horseback riding. Ian went into law with the idea that “if you want to see good things come about in the proper way, you need to be the one to do it. Being a lawyer, I can do right by my clients and colleagues every day and genuinely help folks get through hard times by sticking to a strong, principled values-led life.” His favorite part of working at Joe Miller Law is knowing he is helping injured workers’ make themselves whole after often debilitating or demoralizing work injuries.
Candice grew up in Virginia Beach and worked in the nursing field for three years prior to coming to Joe Miller Law. She says what she loves most about her job is being a legal “shield” for people who become severely injured, against the actions of insurance companies that seem to always want to take advantage of people when they are most vulnerable. She feels her main focus is to protect, fight and provide endless and abundant support for our clients. She knows her job is very demanding, but she also feels it is very rewarding and feels a sense of accomplishment when she knows she has really helped someone. Candice enjoys reading and volunteer work at nursing facilities. She resides in Virginia Beach with her husband and 4 kids.
Olivia started with us in November 2018 and is managing the firm’s marketing, web content and social media so we can get our important messages and educational information out to as many folks as we possibly can! Olivia will be splitting her time between our Virginia Beach office and her own home office. She recently graduated with her BA in Communications from University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. She spent many years as an Assistant Manager of a hardware store before she decided to switch gears and started pursuing her passion for marketing.
Olivia is originally from a small town in Sweden, where she lived and worked up until 2013 when she moved to Washington, D.C to pursue her much larger dreams. She met her husband along the way and decided to permanently remain in the US. Along with her husband, she moved to the Chesapeake area in July 2018 and absolutely loves being close to the beach. In her spare time, Olivia likes to be out in nature with her camera, hike with her husband and Australian Shepherd, or spend time with friends. Other hobbies include traveling and various outdoor activities.
