Hidden Car Accident Whiplash
According to a press release by Digital Motion X-Ray, technology can now be utilized to identify hidden whiplash from car accidents. Based in Ashburn, Virginia, DMX claims to be the first X-ray clinic to offer a new X-ray system combined with optic technology to allow for a real-time motion view of the spine at the rate of 30 X-rays per second. Dr. Shandon Thompson, head of the center, says the X-rays are taken by having the patient move in a way that simulates their pain. The new technology uses 2,700 X-ray images equivalent to 6 standard static X-rays.
Dr. Thompson claims the key is that the X-rays are not static, but rather, they are X-rays of movement. A personal injury patient with a neck injury will slowly move his/her head while the images are taken. The video takes about fifteen minutes. The results are put onto a DVD where they can be reviewed. Dr. Thompson states that a medical radiologist (board certified) then produces a written report. The report can then be used and shown to relevant doctors, insurance companies, and lawyers.
The confirmation of these injuries helps doctors provide the right medical treatments to allow the accident victim to recover.
