A driver of a tractor-trailer was rushed to Rockingham Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-serious injuries following a car crash near Harrisonburg at 3:01 p.m. on Monday, November 4.
According to a statement released by the Virginia State Police, a tractor-trailer going south ran off the right side of the southbound lanes of Interstate-81 and struck the guardrail on an embankment, before striking both a utility pole and a restaurant sign.
Interstate-81 was closed for six hours as the collision with the utility pole left several power lines lying across all lanes of the road. The lanes re-opened at 7:28 p.m. after being cleared.
The driver, Hassan A. Taher, 53, was charged with reckless driving.
